"Slovakia will not participate in the plan to raise funds for weapons for Ukraine, announced the Prime Minister of the Republic Robert Fico on March 20, APA reports.
During a video message following the EU summit in Brussels, published on his official Facebook page (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia), he rejected the plan proposed by the head of EU diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, to finance weapons for Ukraine.
"We insisted that participation in such a gathering should be voluntary, otherwise we would have vetoed it, because no one can force Slovakia to force it to spend €250 million euros from its budget to the detriment of other domestic priorities to buy weapons for Ukraine. Of course, we use the voluntary nature of this initiative and will not send Ukraine a single cent from our budget for their weapons," he announced.
