France is ready to contribute to maintaining the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, said French President Emmanuel Macron following a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian, APA reports.
"It is essential that Iran restore freedom and security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz as soon as possible, something France is ready to facilitate," Macron wrote in X.
According to the head of state, in a conversation with the Iranian president, he emphasized "the importance of respecting the ceasefire, including in Lebanon." "France fully supports the actions of the Lebanese authorities, who are the only legitimate bodies," Macron emphasized. He expressed the view that Iran must "seize the opportunity offered by the negotiations launched in Islamabad to pave the way for sustainable de-escalation and a meaningful agreement that provides reliable security guarantees in the region with the participation of all countries involved."
