France has handed over its last two military units in Senegal to the Senegalese government, APA reports.
A ceremony was held in this regard attended by French and Senegalese officials.
Thus, the "Camp Geille" military base and the area at Dakar airport were returned to the Senegalese leadership.
With the return of about 350 French soldiers to their countries, France's permanent military presence in West and Central Africa will end.
Note that Bassiru Diomaye, who won the presidential elections in Senegal in 2024, demanded the withdrawal of French military forces from the country.
