Estonian intelligence services launched a reconnaissance drone over neutral waters of the Baltic Sea within airspace controlled by Tallinn air traffic controllers. A source in the European Union's air traffic control services told TASS, APA reports.
"Estonian special services launched a reconnaissance drone over the Baltic Sea, including international waters within the air sector controlled by Tallinn air traffic controllers," the agency's source said. According to the source, the drone, which took off from Saaremaa Island, is flying at an altitude of just over 1.5 kilometers outside the designated civil aviation flight paths, including those for aircraft flying over international waters toward the Kaliningrad region.
The source noted that the drone is currently over the sea, after which it will likely continue its flight eastward, including toward the Gulf of Finland. "At least in several previous instances when the drone was detected in the airspace, this was the flight path," the agency's source noted.
