The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has detained an Azerbaijani citizen suspected of drug trafficking, APA’s Tbilisi correspondent reports, citing the Ministry.
The ministry stated that, as a result of operational-investigative measures, two individuals were taken into custody — J.B., born in 1968 and previously convicted, and A.H., a citizen of Azerbaijan born in 1976 — on charges of acquiring and possessing a large quantity of illegal drugs.
During a search of the suspects’ residences, law enforcement officers seized methadone, subutex, heroin, and digital scales as material evidence.
An investigation is underway under Article 260 of the Georgian Criminal Code. If found guilty, the suspects could face up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
