“16 large-scaled wildfires happened in the last 12 days in Turkey”, said Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Spokesperson Omer Celik after the meeting of Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the Party, APA’s local bureau reports.
O. Celik noted that from July 28 till now, there have been 260 fires, and 256 of them have been taken under control: “At present, firefighting and rescue operations of mobilization groups are underway to extinguish forest fires in 4 places”.
AK Party spokesperson noted that discussions were held to take appropriate measures to prevent extinguished fires and burning of forest areas: “While there have been 5 large fires in the last 2 years, having 16 large fires in the last 12 days is excogitative”.
