The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has shown strong interest in investing both in the Middle Corridor infrastructure and in the energy sector, Georgia’s Minister of Finance Lasha Khutsishvili said following a meeting with AIIB representatives, APA's local bureau reports.

According to him, priority areas where investments could be directed were agreed upon during the meeting.
“The discussion concerns the improvement of Georgia’s transport infrastructure. This includes the Middle Corridor’s road, railway, maritime, and air infrastructure. The energy sector is also of interest to AIIB. We agreed that in the near future, a special AIIB mission will visit Georgia, and during this visit, specific projects to be financed by the bank in Georgia will be discussed,” Khutsishvili added.
