APA’s Eastern Europe bureau reports that leadership of Moldova’s Gagauz Area autonomous unit appealed to Moldovan government for it. Head of the autonomous region Mikhail Formuzal said that the monument to the ninth Turkish president will be erected in the most beautiful place of the capital Komrat, in front of the parliament. There is Soviet-era monument to Lenin there.
Suleyman Demirel played a great role in the peaceful solution to Moldovan-Gagauz confrontation and separatist Gagauz Republic’s abolishing itself and becoming Gagauz Area autonomous unit.
Moldovan Cabinet of Ministers is also expected to allow erecting monuments to national Azerbaijani leader Heydar Aliyev and Russian poet Alexander Pushkin. /APA/
