Baku-APA. Italian fashion duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have been summoned to court under suspicion of dodging 1 billion euros of income tax, Italian Ansa news agency reported on Friday, APA reports quoting Ria Novosti.

According to Ansa, Milan Judge Giuseppe Gennari announced the preliminary hearings on the case after the Italian tax authorities demanded a probe into the alleged tax evasion by the fashion designers.

Dolce and Gabbana, "Gilbert and George of Italian fashion," whose sexy silhouettes and gilded designs are especially loved by Hollywood stars, first made headlines as alleged tax dodgers in 2010, when prosecutors suspected them of forging their company’s financial documents to evade about one billion euros.

However, another Milan judge, Simone Luerti, closed the case in 2011 after the court said the allegations against the designers were unfounded.

According to Italian media, the Milan Prosecutor’s Office will appeal to the court next week to arrange the date of the trial.
