Mahmoud Abbas addresses PACE calling on European states to recognize Palestineâ€™s independence

Mahmoud Abbas called on the Council of Europe member states to recognize Palestineâ€™s independence.
â€œAs you know, resolution adopted by the UN in 1947 notes the establishment of two states. One of these states â€“ Israel was granted independence, while Palestine was deprived of this right. We have come here to get independence. This is our right ensured by the international law. Like other states we want to live free and do not intend to isolate anyone. We want to free Palestinian and Israeli people from the policy of occupation and settlement destroying the future of both peoples. If Israelis are choosing between the settlement and peace, we have chosen peace. You supported the Arab spring which was seeking democracy and freedom. Now the Palestinian spring has arrived asking for freedom and an end to occupation. We deserve your support. We are depending on you,â€ he said.
