Baku-APA. Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili on Tuesday announced that the 2012 parliamentary session of the South Caucasus country would be held in the country ’s second largest city Kutaisi, instead of the capital city Tbilisi, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The president made the announcement while opening the House of Justice in Kutaisi on Tuesday.

"I promised to turn Kutaisi not only into a parliamentary city, but into the second capital as well," said the president.

Saakashvili said that he had planned to move more government institutions to the city, which served as the capital of western Georgia in ancient times.

"The first parliamentary session (of next year) will be held in Kutaisi on May 26 of 2012," the president added.

He said that the new complex in Kutaisi for government institutions would be opened to function on Nov. 23 this year.
