Baku-APA. Turkish gendarmery forces and police seized 173.2 kg hashish in two operations in southern and eastern Turkey on Monday, the semi-official APA reports quoting Xinhua.
Turkish gendarmery forces stopped a car and confiscated 37.7 kg of hashish in Samandag town of the southern province of Hatay, according to the report.
The driver and passenger in connection with the haul were detained, said the report.
In another operation, the Turkish police stopped a minibus and a car on Elazig-Malatya highway in the eastern province of Elazig, and found 135.5 kg of hashish, Anatolia reported.
Another two people were detained in the operation, the report added.
Turkey is a key transit route for drug smuggling from Asia and the Middle East to European markets.
