Turkey condemns killing of former Afghan president

Baku-APA. Turkey Tuesday condemned the killing of former Afghan President Burhanuddin Rabbani, an official statement said, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The statement issued by the Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed profound sorrow over the killing of Rabbani and offered the Turkish people’s condolences to his relatives.

Rabbani was killed Tuesday by a suicide bomb attack in his house in Kabul. According to a close source from his office, Rabbani, chairman of the Afghan High Peace Council, was meeting with a small group of Taliban members over the reconciliation when the blast happened.

"We condemn this heinous attack targeting efforts to ensure peace and stability in Afghanistan," said the statement.
