Turkey concerned about latest developments in Yemen

Baku-APA. Turkey was concerned about the rising number of civilian deaths in clashes that erupted in Yemen recently, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said Monday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Turkey urged all parties in Yemen to end clashes as soon as possible and to act with common sense for restoring tranquility and stability in the country, the ministry said a statement.

Turkey hoped Yemen’s government would take measures to end violence against civilians and to preserve basic rights and freedoms of demonstrators who expressed their demands and expectations by peaceful ways, it said.

Some 57 people have died in clashes between Yemen’s government forces, and protesters and defected troops Sunday and Monday. Protesters accused government forces of firing live shots at people rallying in the capital Sanaa and other cities.
