Baku-APA. The death toll has increased to six in the attacks staged by PKK terror organization in southeastern Turkey, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
Muammer Turker, governor of the southeastern province of Hakkari, was quoted as saying that 17-year-old Resul Cetin, who was seriously injured in the attack, died in the hospital.
Turker said on Monday that one policeman, one soldier and three civilians were killed and 10 people including seven gendarmerie personnel were injured when the PKK members attacked a post and a security department in Semdinli town of Hakkari province late Sunday night.
Meanwhile, a statement issued by the Hakkari governor’s office said on Monday that two PKK rebels were also killed during the attacks.
The PKK recently stepped up its attacks in the country’s east and southeast, which killed more than 40 soldiers in the past few months.
Listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union, the PKK took up arms in 1984 to create an ethnic homeland in southeastern Turkey. More than 40,000 people have been killed in conflicts involving the PKK during the past over two decades.
