Baku-APA. A cargo train collided with a passenger train on Friday some 65 kilometers northwest of the capital of Ljubljana, injuring 26 people, APA reports quoting Slovenian Press Agency.

Six people sustained severe injuries and one was airlifted to Ljubljana for medical treatment. However, nobody was in critical condition, the STA quoted the police as reporting.

The accident happened as the passenger train destined for Nova Gorica was pulling out of the Jesenice railway station and the cargo train was coming in. The collision happened due to a glitch on the rail switches, the report quoted unidentified sources as saying.

The railway department has started an investigation on the accident. The collision has interrupted railway transportation through Jesenice, one of Slovenia’s three rail connections with neighboring Austria.
