Baku-APA. Jobless in France was up by 1.3 percent in July from a month earlier, as tepid economic growth slowed job creation in the eurozone second largest economy, official figures showed on Thursday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

In July, France registered 36,100 more jobless people, pulling the country’s total number of job seekers up to more than 2.7 million, the Labor Ministry said.

Year on year, the jobless rose by 2.8 percent over the same period last year.

"The latest results of July were... directly related to the economic growth which stood at 0 percent in the second quarter against 0.9 percent in the first quarter," the ministry said in its monthly report.

The government target is to reduce the jobless rate to 9 percent this year betting on buoyant economic activities.
