The Netherlands unfreezes Libyan assets to benefit its people

Baku-APA. The Netherlands will unblock part of the frozen assets belonging to the Libyan government, Foreign Minister Uri Rosenthal stated on Monday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The decision was made in response to a request by the World Health Organization (WHO). A sum of 100 million euros (143 million U.S. dollars) will be used to distribute medicines among the Libyan people.

The Foreign Ministry stated that the Netherlands is the first country to unblock the credits, aiming to improve the financial support for the Libyan health sector.

The sum will be spent on medicines for people in Benghazi, other rebel regions and areas controled by the Libyan government.
