Rome – APA. Italian police arrested 80 people suspected of having links to mafia. APA reports that mayor of Marina di Gioiosa Ionica was also arrested. Mayor Rocco Fermina is suspected of giving the city contracts to the firms controlled by mafia. The policeman suspected of informing the mafia about the investigation was also arrested.
40 more people were arrested in Naples, including two candidates from Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s party in the local elections. They are suspected of having links to Camorra.
Francesco Campana, Mafia boss of Sacra Corona Unita, was arrested on April 23.
