Baku – APA. Croatia has asked France to extradite a former Serb paramilitary fighter wanted for crimes against humanity during the 1990s Balkan conflict, APA reports quoting “The Voice of America”.

Miodrag Momic was arrested last month under an international arrest warrant near the French town of Grenoble, where he had been living under a false identity. He also is wanted by Serbia itself for war crimes in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Momic was a member of the notorious paramilitary unit known as the Scorpions, which took part in the 1990s conflicts in Bosnia, Croatia and Kosovo.

Croatia wants to try the 47-year-old Momic for alleged war crimes in eastern Croatia. Serbia suspects him of taking part in the 1995 massacre of Muslims in the Bosnian town of Srebrenica, where some 8,000 Muslim males were executed by Bosnian Serb forces.
Four members of the Scorpions were convicted in Serbia in 2007 and have been sentenced to up to 20 years in prison for their roles in the Srebrenica massacre.
