Baku-APA. An agreement on the visa-free travel between Ukraine and Israel, signed last year in July, comes into force on Wednesday, APA reports quoting RIA Novosti.
Starting February 9, citizens of Israel and Ukraine are able to travel between the countries without visas for the period of up to 90 days.
Israel hopes that the number of Ukrainian tourists in 2011 will increase by 40% against the previous year and exceed 140,000 people following the cancellation of the visa regulations.
The Israeli economy is expected to receive some $100 million from such increase in the number of tourists.
Israel enjoys a visa-free regime with Russia since September of 2008 and, according to the Israeli Ministry of Tourism, some 550,000 Russian tourists visited the country last year bringing the Israeli economy about $400 million.
