Baku-APA. A Polish soldier was killed as a result of the shelling of Camp Warrior in Afghanistan on Tuesday, the PAP news agency reported, citing a spokesman for the Polish military contingent in the central Asian country, APA reports quoting Xinhua News Agency.

The soldier is the 18th Polish soldier killed in Afghanistan. Last Saturday a Polish soldier died after a mine exploded under his armored vehicle.

Poland has some 2,600 troops stationed in the Afghan province of Ghazni, part of the NATO-led multinational peacekeeping force International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), making it the seventh largest troop contributor to NATO’s mission.

Meanwhile, Acting Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski has reportedly assured that he would withdraw Poland from NATO’s ISAF mission in Afghanistan.

He added, however, that the pullout would have to be carried out without hindrances to NATO, according to the PAP.
