Baku. Lachin Sultanova -APA. Russia submitted its report on the proclamation of Kosovo’s independence to the UN International Court, APA reports quoting the UN official website. The issue is discussed on demand of UN General Assembly. It stated that the document includes the conclusion that unilateral proclamation of Kosovo’s independence by the provisional government contradicts international law, including provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 1244.

On October 8, 2008, the UN General Assembly asked the International Court to determine whether Kosovo’s proclamation of independence was legally or not. The resolution was proposed by the Serbian representatives and supported by 77 countries. 6 countries were against and 74 abstained.

The International Court asked the UN member countries to submit its opinions on the Kosovo’s unilateral proclamation of independence until April 17, 2009. The participants of the process have an opportunity to send their comments on the reports of any country to the Court by July 17, 2009. Then the Court will schedule the hearings.

The UN International Court is reviewing the disputes between the countries and expressing its opinion on the legal issues on demand of UN General Assembly and Security Council.
