According to him, Nabucco project is still on the table: “Our country supported Nabucco and TAP at the same time. These projects are not competitors, but complete each other”.
The Minister said that taking the positions of gas suppliers including Iraq’s gas and need of European countries into account, Nabucco project can be realized.
He also noted that according to IAE forecasts, EU will need additional 200 bcm of gas by 2030.
Yildiz underlined Turkey reevaluates the issue that the company which will be defined by BOTAS and Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources will become a shareholder of TAP project: “Two year ago, TAP invited BOTAS to be shareholder with the 15% equity”.
The Minister mentioned Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croaia and Slovenia which yearly produce 7-10 bcm of natural gas are possible to join TAP pipeline.
TAP shareholders are: BP (20%), SOCAR (20%), Statoil (20%), Fluxys (16%), Total (10%), E.ON (9%) and Axpo (5%).
