State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic told APA-Economics that construction works will be carried out in the territory allotted for the complex soon.
A part of these territories were once owned by Baku Military Circle (30ha) of USSR Defense Ministry's Air Defense Forces and Caspian Fleet of the Defense Ministry (50ha). Possibility of the existence of mines and unexploded ordnances in these territories is being studied.
Local and international experience has been taken into account and Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) has been involved in detailed studies. ANAMA has carried out operations in 30ha area (work has been completed in 265 000 sq m area), operations have started in 50ha area (work has been completed in 15 000 sq m area).
Several UXOs have been detected in these territories. Clearing operations will be carried out within 6 months.
