Baku hosting 4th informal meeting of Eastern Partnership member countries

Baku. Agshin Rafigoglu – APA-Economics. Today, the 4th informal meeting of the Eastern Partnership member countries' foreign ministers has kicked off in Baku.

 

According to APA-Economics, the meeting, organized by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Energy, is attended by Azerbaijani Energy Minister Natig Aliyev, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev, EU commissioner for energy Gunther Oettinger, Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Štefan Füle, Georgian Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze, Ukrainian Energy Minister Yuri Prodan, Moldovan energy Minister Adrian Candu, Belarusian Deputy Energy Minister Vadim Zakrevski.  

 

According to N. Aliyev, the situation in Africa, and Ukraine caused changes in the energy map of the world.

 

“Today’s meeting will devote to extend the cooperation of our countries in energy sphere”, he said.

 

G. Oettinger noted that European Union should strengthen its energy security on the background of tension between Russia and Ukraine: “We are seeking ways for this. EU does not want such tension because of threat for energy supply and energy security of Europe”.

 

Štefan Füle noted that to prevent such tensions, the Eastern Partnership member countries should extend cooperation among one another.
