Azerbaijan-UK energy cooperation discussed in London

State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) told APA-Economics that the event was attended by Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Department of Energy & Climate Change Baroness Sandip Verma, Minister of State David Lidington, British Prime Minister's Trade Envoy to Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan Charles Hendry, Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons Eleanor Laing, members of the House of Lords, representatives of the parliament’s energy committee, BP Group Chief Executive Robert Dudley, BP's Regional President for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey Gordon Birrell, ambassadors, diplomats and senior officials from the Azerbaijani delegation.

 

Lord Richard Risby spoke about UK-Azerbaijan economic relations, energy cooperation. Addressing the event, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev said Azerbaijan, which established in the first democratic republic in the Muslim East, was moving forward towards European integration. He said British companies were playing an important role in oil and gas industry of Azerbaijan, as they did 100 years ago.

 

SOCAR President underlined that energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and UK had influenced science, culture, education.

 

Members of the House of Lords and other participants said there were vast prospects to enhance the energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and UK.
