According to him, Azerbaijan is interested in operation of Baku-Novorossiysk oil pipeline: “There was an interstate contract on operation of oil pipeline in the past. Ths contract was preventing operation of the pipeline. Now, that contract has been terminated. The pipeline has been repaired and continues its operation”.
Russian government passed a decision on termination of the agreement, signed with Azerbaijan on January 18, 1996, on the transit of Azerbaijani oil through Russia. The decision was signed by Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on May 5
In February, 2014, SOCAR and Russia’s Transneft signed a new agreement.
