He noted that the Russian company was going to shut down the pipeline: “Azerbaijan requested to extend the term of the contract. The contract expires on February 14. We are holding negotiations to reach a new commercial agreement instead of the valid intergovernmental agreement and contract that expires today”.

Dyomin added that the sides should discuss the volume, tariffs and quality of the oil to be transported via this pipeline. Moreover, the spokesman said that the new contract should envisage guarantee on transportation of the planned volume.

SOCAR commented on reports that the term of the transit contract with Transneft on oil transportation will be extended. Spokesman for SOCAR Nizamaddin Guliyev told APA that both SOCAR and Tansneft are interested in the delivery of oil via Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline under the mutually beneficial conditions: “The valid contract has not expired yet and the companies are conducting intensive negotiations. Additional information will be publicized after the negotiations”.
