Baku. Aynur Aliyeva – APA-Economics. In world practice, harmful impact of fuel on the environment is reduced by adding methanol to gasoline.
If the cars are switched to methanol, air emissions can be reduced by 50%. In Europe, dimethyl ether methyl alcohol is used for this purpose and it's a complete substitute of diesel fuel and harmless product. Europe’s major leading countries such as Sweden, Norway use methyl in exchange for the use of diesel fuel. Given the volume of waste in the atmosphere in Azerbaijan, use of this type of fuel may facilitate the solution to the problem.
Chairman of board of directors of AzMeCo Nizami Piriyev told APA-Economics that this fuel would be used in Azerbaijan in the coming 5-8 years: “Currently, all our vehicles run with 115%-methanol. According to European standards, 3% methanol is added to gasoline. In the US and China, there are M 15, M 30, M 85 types of fuels having methanol in their compositions. This reduces half of the harm of gasoline to the atmosphere”.
