“Azerbaijan is one of the countries actively participating in forming of Europe’s energy security,” the member of the Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship of Milli Majlis Vugar Bayramov told APA.

“Last year more than 8 bln. cubic metres of gas was transported to Europe. Azerbaijan intends to transport up to 10 bln. cubic metres of gas to Europe in 2022. Totally, it is expected that Azerbaijan will transport 10 bln cubic metres of gas to Europe via South Gas Corridor at the first stage, and 20 bln. cubic metres at the second stage. Transmission capacity of South Gas Corridor will be 31, 5 bln. cubic metres which is practically will play a new alternative source role for Europe. This will allow Azerbaijan to make a special contribution to the energy security of the region, especially Europe. In the current case, the growing role of Azerbaijan in Europe's energy security is also important in terms of further strengthening the geopolitical position of our country in the region.”
