Azerbaijan to export iodized salt to CIS countries

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov – APA-Economics. Azerbaijan-made iodized salt is expected to be exported to CIS and neighbor countries, spokesman for the Azersun Group of Companies Arif Safarov said, APA-Economics reports.

Safarov said the holding was learning the regional markets now and added that Azersun Holding was the first iodized salt producer in CIS based on modern technologies. Masazyr Salt Factory put into operation on July 21 will meet the country’s needs.

Azerbaijan-made salt will be sold at the foreign markets with Azerduz and Bizim Duz brands.

Safarov said annual salt needs in Azerbaijan were 40-45 thousand tonnes.

Masazyr Salt Factory is the Azersun Holding’s social project and it has 100 tonnes of production capacity a day. The factory will produce 300 tonnes of salt a day after starting full operation. It uses Masazyr Lake as a source. The lake’s salt resources are estimated at 1.750 million tonnes.
