Energy Secretary General to the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change of Greece : “ITGI project is more mature than othersâ€
- Azerbaijan and Greece have good relations. But we would like to extend the relation in energy sphere. Azerbaijani Minister of Industry and Energy plans to pay visit Greece, recently.
- Greece’s DEPA company and SOCAR hold talks. In which level are the discussions now?
- Azerbaijani and Greece Companies conduct negotiations on the ITGI (Turkey – Greece - Italy) project. This is a part of our contacts. We plan to sign memorandum of mutual understanding. This will facilitate the realization of the project. We’re interested in the participation of SOCAR in this project. At the same time, we hold talks about purchase of Azerbaijani gas.
- In what volume of gas does Greece want to purchase from Azerbaijan?
- We determined the current volume as 1 bcm. But we want to increase this volume, in the future.
- When the memorandum of mutual understanding is planned to be signed? How do you think about the future of this project?
- This memorandum is expected to be signed among the companies. The last important step on the way realization of project was the signing of memorandum of mutual understanding between Turkey and Greece. Both countries governments called the project major and high priority.
- Do you mean that, this project will realize earlier than Nabucco and Southern Corridor energy projects?
- We think that, this project is more mature than others and we hope that this will be more attractively for its participants.
- Nabucco project explained the term of realization – 2nd part of 2014. Are there such frames for ITGI project?
- We consider that, TGI project may be realized earlier, but we can’t say concrete time.
- How can the talks about gas price between Azerbaijan and Turkey influence on the realization of ITGI project?
- We consider that, the talks between Azerbaijan and Turkey are very important and useful. The signing of agreement will facilitate the terms, on which gas will be transported to Turkey and will positively affect the realization of this project.
