Belarus to join Odessa-Brody pipeline project

Baku â€“ APA-Economics. Speaking on national television on March 30, Belarussian President Aleksandr Lukashenko instructed Deputy Belarussian Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko to begin talks with Ukraine on joining the Odessa-Brody pipeline project, Ukrayinska Pravda reported.

Lukashenko stressed that pipeline transport must be used as much as possible, leaving rail to handle â€œindividual casesâ€.

As has been reported, Belarus expects to receive a first shipment of 80,000 tons of crude from Venezuela in May. The crude will be delivered by sea to Odessa and then on to the Mozyr refinery by rail.

Ukraine earlier offered Belarus to join the Odessa-Brody project to pump oil from the Black Sea port north, providing guarantees on supply volumes.
