New strategic oilfield discovery in Russia

Baku. Ayaz Abdulla â€“ APA. On Wednesday the Russian minister of the Environment and Natural Resources Jury Trutnev has reported to the Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on newly found strategic oilfield in Irkutsk region, APA reports quoting vesti.ru web-page.

"We have very important oilfield discovery. We can announce on oilfield discovery Savostyanovo, which has more than 150 million tons of oil. This is a strategic oilfield, - said Yuri Trutnev in the meeting with prime minister Vladimir Putin.

According to Trutnev, reserves of the new oilfield, discovered by "Rosneft" company in the Irkutsk region, makes 160.2 million tons. For comparison, the total volume of oil, produced in Russia in 2009, made about 494 million tons.

The "Rosneft" has informed that the "Savostjanovo" oilfield, which belongs to it, is situated in the Mogdinsky site.

The oilfield has been named after Nikolay Savostyanov. In 1976-1990 he was a chief of the Main Oil Geophysics Department of the Ministry of Oil Industry. In 1993-1997, he was a chief of the department of geophysical works of "Rosneft" company.
