Azerbaijan to expand its power plant network in Nakhchivan

Nakhchivan. Nijat Aliyev - APA-ECONOMICS. Azerbaijan is considering options of building new power plants in the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic to maximize electricity exports.

The Azerbaijani-Iranian Commission has recently discussed the construction of 2 power plants one in Azerbaijan over the Araz river which divides Iran and Nakhchivan.

Another power plant is also planned in Batabat area over the Nakhichevanchay river.

According to the agreement between Azerbaijan and Iran, construction of Ordubad and Marazad hydropower plants will be launched. These plants will produce 190 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually.
