Baku. Rashad Suleymanov - APA-ECONOMICS. Azerbaijan has secured more than $2 billion in loan during recent years to enhance its generating capacity, said Marlen Asgerov, vice-president of AzerEnerji state utility.

According to him, Azerbaijan fully satisfies its domestic demand for electricity and also exports electricity to neighboring countries.

He noted that Azerbaijan sells 200 000 to 250 000 kilowatt-hours of electricity a day to Russia alone.

He also stressed that work is underway on renewal of domestic transmission lines, synchronization of Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey, Russia-Azerbaijan-Iran networks and creation of a new energy corridor.

In his words, a program is being developed for the use of wind energy in the country.
