SOCAR-CMSâ€™ ships â€œArazâ€ and â€œKhudaferinâ€ arrive in Baku

Baku. Vahab Rzayev â€“ APA-Economics. SOCAR and Caspian Marine Services reached 10-year contract for modernization of Caspian Oil Fleetâ€™s ships to support offshore oilmen in the exploration of oil fields in Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. SOCAR told APA that the SOCAR-CMS alliance attaches special attention to the building of new ships and ordered five speedy passenger-supply ships and two of those ships â€“ â€œArazâ€ and â€œKhudaferinâ€ have already arrived in Baku.

The new ships have a capacity of 70 tons cargo alongside with passengers. They will serve shift oil workers and carry different cargo.

On December 25, SOCAR president Rovnag Abdullayev and other officials became familiarized with new vessels. The third ship â€œBatabatâ€ is under the construction now and it will be brought to Baku in 2010.

SOCAR-CMS has large ship-building plans, which are expected to be implemented in a shipyard to be constructed in Azerbaijan.

The allianceâ€™s main customers are SOCAR, BP Azerbaijan and LUKoil in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. It is also providing naval operations for the companies LUKoil, McDermott, Dragonoil, Momentum, Caspian Crane Contractor, Saga, Saipem and others operated in the Turkemn, Kazakh and Russian sectors of the Caspian. The alliance is conducting intensive repair and modernization work in crane-ship Gurban Abbasov, which is expected to put in operation in august, 2010.
