Tbilisi. Nino Zhvania - APA. Georgian Interior Ministry’s Department of Constitutional Security has held a special operation in KazTransGas.

APA’s special correspondent in Georgia reports that 18 people, including one woman were arrested during the operation. The arrested are Georgian nationals.

All the arrested charged with financial fraud and bribery. The Interior Ministry is expected to hold a briefing on the issue.

Kazakhstan’s KazTransGas acquired the bankrupt Tbilgaz gas distribution company for $12.6 million in 2006.

The company currently operates 2000 km gas pipeline network, and provides service to 230 000 subscribers, 4700 communal subscribers and 600 large industrial enterprises.

Under the program, the Kazakh company shall invest more than $82 million for 4 years and fully rehabilitate Tbilisi gas distribution network by 2011.
