Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline spends $2 million

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. During the three quarters of 2009, BP-Azerbaijan spent $2 million in capital expenditures on activities of South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP) also known as Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline.
For the full year it is expected to spend $15 million in SCP capital expenditure, said BP Azerbaijan.

The pipeline has been operational since late 2006 transporting gas to Azerbaijan and Georgia, and starting July 2007 to Turkey from Shah Deniz Phase 1.

SCP throughput during this period was about 14 million cubic meters of gas per day or more than 91 000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

The SCP has a dual operatorship with BP as the technical operator being responsible for construction and operation of the SCP facilities and StatoilHydro, as commercial operator, is responsible for SCP’s business development and administration.

The SCP Co. shareholders are: BP (technical operator – 25.5%), StatoilHydro (commercial operator - 25.5%), Azerbaijan SCP Ltd. (10%), LUKOIL (10%), NICO (10%), Total (10%), and TPAO (9%).
