Baku. Viktoriya Dementieva - APA. Azerbaijan’s best policy in the energy sector is the development of energy efficiency, said Richard Jones, deputy executive director of the International Energy Agency.

He noted that energy efficiency is important both for the supplier countries and for the consumer countries.

"To improve energy efficiency, renewable energy resources can also be used. You could use solar energy because of your climate, as well as developing a variety of other potential technologies, benefit from the experience of Europe. I agree with the statement that the development of renewable energy sources will help reduce the need for oil and gas, and thereby avoid the various conflicts on this basis.

Asked by reporters about the importance of Caspian energy resources to Europe’s energy security, he answered that, Europe will seek new ways of supply due to reduction in production.

"The Caspian states - Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan may act as potential suppliers. There are several potential routes for the delivery of gas from these countries to Europe and we are not trying to identify the leaders among these projects. What we put the emphasis on is that energy diversification is very important for suppliers and consumers,” he added.
