Baku. Rashad Suleymanov - APA-ECONOMICS. The Ministry of Industry and Energy has today hosted discussions on a pilot project for lighting buildings by using solar energy.

Commissioned by the ministry and Baku Major’s Office, the pilot project was developed by Total Energy.

The panellists were Minister of Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev, Baku’s Major Hajibala Abutalibov, and senior representatives of the National Academy of Sciences and Baku Power Networks Company.

It was noted that the pilot project was developed in accordance with the instructions of the head of state on the use of alternative and renewable sources of energy.

An experimental building was allotted by Baku Major’s Office and 30 solar panels with the capacity of 0.1 kilowatts per hour each which are designed for temperature between -40 and +50 degrees will be installed on the roof.

Under the project, corridors, passages between the floors, and entrances will be lighted automatically as needed, that when somebody walks, which will provide substantial energy savings.

The pilot project will be completed by late November. Several other projects will be carried out next year, including in Sumgait.
