Baku. Rashad Suleymanov - APA-ECONOMICS. 37 876 000 tons of oil was produced in Azerbaijan during January-September, up 5 372 000 tons from the expected, said Minister of Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev at a government meeting.

According to him, oil production grew by more than 2 964 000 tons as against a year ago. Of the produced oil, 5 793 000 tons came from Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli.

He added in his report that 4 wells on Shah Deniz gas and condensate field produce 23 million cubic meters of gas and 6 000 tons of condensate per day. Currently the 5th well is under development.

"Prior to 2012, 9 billion cubic meters of gas per year and 40 000 barrels of oil per day is expected to come from Shah Deniz. Natural gas from Shah Deniz has allowed not only meet its demand but also supply gas to Georgia, Turkey, Russia, Iran and Europe,” he noted.

He also noted Azerbaijan produced 17.416 billion cubic meters of gas during January-September 2009. Of this, 12 billion cubic meters came from Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli and Shah Deniz.
