Azerbaijan president election: Voting underway in districts

Voting in Azerbaijan’s presidential election is underway in the country’s Mingachevir, Goychay, Agdash and Gabala districts.

Polling stations in these cities and districts opened at 08:00 this morning, APA’s local bureau reports. Polling stations are equipped with the necessary technical means, including ink balloons and ultraviolet lamps.

Web cameras have been installed at 49 polling stations in five constituencies region-wide. The voting is being observed by numerous international observers from local and international organizations representing various political parties and non-governmental organizations. Electoral boxes are transported to the homes of people unable to visit polling stations due to health issues so that they can participate too.

Eldaniz Hamidov, chairman of the Goychay Constituency No 88, said that 478 local observers are monitoring the voting process. “Rey” Monitoring Center is conducting "exit-poll" at 8 polling stations.

Nizam Maharramov, chairman of Goychay-Agdash Constituency No 89, said that 369 local observers are monitoring the voting process. Moreover, international observers and representatives of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights are monitoring the voting process at polling stations. "ELS" Independent Research Center is conducting "exit-poll".

Nureddin Babayev, chairman of Agdash Constituency No 90, said that 451 local observers have been registered to observe the voting process. There are 6 voters aged over 100 in the district. Observers from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights are monitoring the election in Aghdash.

Ogtay Mammadov, chairman of Mingachevir Constituency No 90, noted that 325 local observers are monitoring the voting process. The Independent consultancy and assistance center “For the Sake of Civil Society” (FSCS) is conducting "exit-poll" in one polling station and "ELS" Independent Research Center is conducting "exit-poll" in 3 polling stations. Observers from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights are monitoring the election in the city.
