Residents of Azerbaijani Gusar region were among the killed in Dagestan <font color=red>-UPDATED </font>

Balabayov was foiled during anti-terror operations in the southern region of Dagestan. Member of the illegal armed group Ramazan Vahabov was also killed as a result of anti-terror operations in Avadan village. Nine terrorists have been killed during the operations led by chief of Dagestan Federal Security Service Vyacheslav Shanshin and Interior Ministry in Tabasaran, Darband, Suleyman Stalski and other southern regions since January 8.
Balabayov resisted to the police of Khudat region on February 14 and escaped.
In 1994 resident of Avajug village Araz Balabayov joined wahhabite society of Kuwait â€œRevival of Islamic heritageâ€. Residents of Avajug village Valeh Muradov, Mizam Isayev and Babek Balabayov also joined the society. On November 27, 2003 Valeh Murtadov and Mizam Isayev attacked a jewelerâ€™s shop in Gusar, killed 21-year-old salesman Asef Sharifov, took a great deal of jewelry and hid in Araz Balabayovâ€™s house in Avajug. On December 7 Interior Ministry carried out an operation and foiled Isayev and Muradov. Araz Balabayovâ€™s brother Vugar Balabayov, who had links with the gang, was arrested and sentenced to 13 years in jail.
APAâ€™s local bureau reports that Araz Balabayov was detained while attempting to smuggle a great deal of explosives from Dogguzpara region of Dagestan to Gusar region of Azerbaijan in autumn, 2001, but managed to escape. Later he was arrested and court of Maharramkand region sentenced him to 18 months in jail. Balabayov joined different groups after he was released. On November 17, 2006 Araz Balabayov resisted to the police in Hazra village of Gusar region, but could escape again.
One more resident of Gusar region was detained in anti-terror operations in the south of Dagestan. Police office of Maharramkand region told APAâ€™s north bureau that 34-year-old member of illegal armed group Elbrus Ismayilov was arrested as a result of operation carried out in Selegun village. One AKM submachine gun and some chargers were found on him.
