Prize â€œPerson of the Yearâ€ presented to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev

According to the tradition, the president was handed over a special diploma, the monetary premium at amount AZN 5,000 and a watch exclusively made for Ilham Aliyev on behalf of ANS Group of Companies. Fuad Mustafayev, son of news cameraman, national hero Chingiz Mustafayev, presented the award to the president.
The president expressed his gratitude for the award. Speaking about high economic growth in Azerbaijan, the head of state said new jobs have been created in the country, peopleâ€™s incomes increase from year to year, Azerbaijan continues to be the leader for economic growth and the countryâ€™s economic growth rate makes up 26%. The president underlined that Azerbaijan is on the right way and the activities for the countryâ€™s development and peopleâ€™s welfare will continue. The head of state said Azerbaijan is the main participant of regional projects, meets its energy needs and also plays an important role in energy security of Europe.
Despite pressures and resistances of several states, Ilham Aliyev has been awarded for foundation laying for Baku-Kars-Akhalkalaki railway, exportation of Azerbaijani gas to the world market as a component of consolidation of Azerbaijanâ€™s position in international energy security, protection of Azerbaijan from dangers as a result of balanced policy pursued in the framework of strained relations between US and Iran, successful implementation of infrastructure projects in the country and improvement of employment opportunities, elimination of the last refugee camp in Azerbaijan, improvement of citizensâ€™ living standard , successful continuation of army formation, commissioning complex military industry , achievement of military production, sharp increase in military spending, an exclusive role for restoration of ANS activity and extension of license, release of imprisoned journalists.
Hajibala Abutalibov, Baku Mayor was warded the prize â€œPerson of the Yearâ€ in 2001, Heydar Aliyev former Azerbaijani President in 2002, 2003, former Japanese ambassador to Azerbaijan Toshiyuki Fujiwara in 2004, MP Mehriban Aliyeva, president of Heydar Aliyev Foundation in 2005 and Sheikulislam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh, head of Caucasian Muslims Office (CMO) in 2006.
