Prize “Person of the Year†presented to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev
The president expressed his gratitude for the award. Speaking about high economic growth in Azerbaijan, the head of state said new jobs have been created in the country, people’s incomes increase from year to year, Azerbaijan continues to be the leader for economic growth and the country’s economic growth rate makes up 26%. The president underlined that Azerbaijan is on the right way and the activities for the country’s development and people’s welfare will continue. The head of state said Azerbaijan is the main participant of regional projects, meets its energy needs and also plays an important role in energy security of Europe.
Despite pressures and resistances of several states, Ilham Aliyev has been awarded for foundation laying for Baku-Kars-Akhalkalaki railway, exportation of Azerbaijani gas to the world market as a component of consolidation of Azerbaijan’s position in international energy security, protection of Azerbaijan from dangers as a result of balanced policy pursued in the framework of strained relations between US and Iran, successful implementation of infrastructure projects in the country and improvement of employment opportunities, elimination of the last refugee camp in Azerbaijan, improvement of citizens’ living standard , successful continuation of army formation, commissioning complex military industry , achievement of military production, sharp increase in military spending, an exclusive role for restoration of ANS activity and extension of license, release of imprisoned journalists.
