Yevgeniya Jivkova told APA the aim of her visit is to study pre-election situation and Azerbaijan’s obligations taken before the Council of Europe. The report will be prepared on the results of the visit.
PACE co-rapportuer Andres Herkel told APA it would be better if solutions were found on some issues till the presidential elections.
“ The issues to be settled in Azerbaijan are media problems, political prisoners and legislation on electoral code and freedom of assembly. The co-raportures will meet Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, parliament speaker Ogtay Asadov, Foreign and Interior Ministers, law activists, representatives of NGOs and political parties, prisoners.
