Andres Herkel and Eugenia Jivkova to visit Azerbaijan on February 4

The co-rapporteurs of Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE) Monitoring Committee on Azerbaijan Andres Herkel and Eugenia Jivkova will visit Azerbaijan on February 4-8.
Mr.Herkel told APA they will carry out debates on pre-election situation in Azerbaijan, freedom of expression and political prisoners in the framework of their visit. He said that the members of Venice Commission (VC) will also be in Baku that time. Therefore, co-rapporteurs of Monitoring Committee will attend discussions on the amendments to Electoral Code and qualification of law on freedom of freely assembly.
Co-rapporteurs are expected to meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Esedov, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and other senior officials, representatives of political parties, NGOs and media. They will also visit imprisoned journalists and several prisoners the names of those included to the list of political prisoner. /APA/
