Safa Mirzayev: Council of Europe, OSCE and other organizations have no concrete proposals on the formation of election commissions in Azerbaijan

According to them, all the parties participating in the elections should confide in the work of election commissions,â€ head of Azerbaijani parliamentâ€™s administration Safa Mirzayev said, APA reports. Speaking about the amendments to the Electoral Code he said that these amendments serve to improve the election process. Safa Mirzayev said present election commissions provide equal opportunities for all the parties who want to participate in the elections justly.
â€œI think that the composition of election commissions should not be based on political affiliation. The position of the election commissions formed basing on the proposals of political parties is known beforehand. I think that specialists, people well-informed about electoral legislation and election process, should be invited to the election commissions. Unfortunately, it does not depend on my will. The present law allows holding free and democratic elections.
According to Safa Mirzayev, one of the changes offered to the code is quick and qualitative solution of the conflicts before and after the elections. Safa Mirzayev expressed his confidence that relevant changes will be made to the Electoral Code in the spring session. /APA/
