Baku Mayor’s Office replied to the survey sent by a group of public organizations on allotting venues for mass actions. Eldar Namazov, president of the public forum For Azerbaijan told the APA that city leadership stated in the response letter that there are not any changes in 7 routes for rallies and meetings. The letter says that, organizations planned rallies should select one of these venues and appeal to Baku Mayor’s Office. City leadership will reply after determination of venue where holding of rally will be expedient.
“Even if, mass action is planned in venues allotted by city leadership, Mayor’s Office will pass decision on venue. But this is absurd,” he said.
Namazov said that next meeting of Monitoring Committee will be held soon and next steps will be defined.
Baku Mayor’s Office defined 4 venues for meetings and 3 places for rallies in 2006. Stadium of “Neftchi” Sport Health Center in Bibiheybat in Sabayel, square from Rustam Rustamov Street to Baku Oil Refinery named after Heydar Aliyev in Nizami district, Ukrainian square, stadium of “Neftchi” Sport Health Center named after Tofig Ismayilov in Surakhani district were allotted for meetings. Venues for rallies are from “Neftchilar” metro station till square in front of Baku Oil Refinery named after Heydar Aliyev (distance 1,600 m), from “Hazi Aslanov” metro station till Ukrainian square through Mehemmed Hadi Street (distance 1,200 m), square named after Sattar Bahlulzada till Stadium of “Neftchi” Sport Health Center named after Tofig Ismayilov (distance 1,000 m). /APA/
